Tasaddaq's death
ISLAMABAD: President Farooq Leghari has expressed his sorrow and grief over the sad demise of Begum Salma Tasaddaq Hussain, a renowned activist of the Pakistan movement.
In his condolence message to her son, Mr. Justice Aslam Riaz Hussain, the president said:
"I am deeply grieved over the sad demise of your revered and illustrious mother.
In her death, the nation has lost a dedicated social worker and a front-ranking freedom fighter who set personal examples of meaningful contribution to our national life, both in politics and social sector, which would long be remembered.
Prime Minister Benazir has expressed her sorrow over the sad demise of Begum Salma Tasaddaq Hussain.
In a condolence message addressed to the son of the deceased, Mr. Justice (Retd) Aslam Riaz Hussain, the prime minister said, Begum Salma Tasaddaq had relentlessly worked for awakening the Muslim women during the struggle for Pakistan.
"She was the first woman delegate of Pakistan sent to UNO by the Quaid-e-Azam, soon after the independence of the country," the prime minister said.
Benazir has prayed to Almighty Allah to place the departed soul in eternal rest and grant patience to the bereaved to bear the loss with fortitude.
Chairman Senate Wasim Sajjad and Deputy Chairman Mir Abdul Jabbar have expressed a feelings of shock and grief over the demise of Begum Salma Tasaddq Hussain.
In separate messages, they paid tributes to Begum Salma Tasaddaq Hussain for taking active part in the Pakistan movement and for making a notable contribution for ameliorating the lot of Pakistani women.
Chairman Senate said that the invaluable services of Begum Salma Tasaddaq Hussain for the nation and the country, in particular as Provincial Minister and as Chairperson of Hilale Ahmar, shall be long remembered.-APP
