Interbank
rate eases
in Bangkok
BANGKOK: The Thai overnight interbank rate slide to 9.75-10.00 percent from 10.75-11.00 percent on Monday as banks showed willingness to lend, dealers said.
"The interbank rate slid in thhe afternoon as the banks were willing to lend excess cash remaining after cheque clearing," one dealer at a foreign bank said.
Dealers expect the interbank rate to open at 9.50-9.75 percent tomorrow.
The baht weakened against the dollar to 24.831-24.841 in quite late today versus Monday's 24.815-24.825 on a stronger dollar abroad, dealers said.
"There were some purchases of dollars today on speculation of a further rise of the dollar abroad," another dealer said.
The mid-rate was fixed at 24.84 to the dollar compared with 24.83 on Monday.
One-day and seven-day bond repurchase rates were quoted at 9.25 percent in the morning and 9.00 in the afternoon. Seven-day rate was quoted at 9.25 percent in the morning, while it was unquoted in the afternoon.-Reuter
