KARACHI: The Administrator of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Fahim Zaman Khan, has offered to journalists the facilities that are available at KMC for its officers and employees.

He was speaking at a dinner hosted by KMC on Monday for the newly elected officer-bearers of Karachi Press Club (KPC) at the Baradari.

Similarly, Fahim Zaman Khan also offered the journalists the sports facilities that are available at the KMC.

On the occasion he also gave a cheque of Rs one lakh for the KPC to its president, Sabihuddin Ghausi, on behalf of the KMC.

Fahim said that it is the responsibility of the KMC to see that parks and playgrounds are not converted into plazas.

He stated that allotment in Bagh Ibn Qasim since 1968 have been cancelled and so was the case with the allotments at Safari Park.

Fahim pointed out that for the defence of precious land the concerned parties hire expensive lawyers while KMC's legal department officers contest such cases. However, he declared that the KMC would not surrender and fight out in this respect.

He was of the view that there should be elected local body in the city that should work to enhance facilities in the city.

Appreciating KPC's role in strengthening democratic institutions in the country he hoped that the KPC would continue to foster democratic traditions in future as well.

Speaking on the occasion the KPC President Sabihuddin Ghausi thanked the KMC for the donation of Rs one lakh for the KPC.

He also thanked for the offer of medical and sports facilities to the journalists by the KMC and hoped that in the years ahead such facilities would be made available to every one in Karachi.

KPC chief emphasised that playgrounds and reading room and library facilities would be made available especially to the youngsters in the city.

He also invited the KMC Administrator to visit KPC and discuss its improvement plans.-APP
