CHICAGO: CBOT rice futures closed down the 30-cent-per-cwt trading limit as the US rice harvest draws closer, traders said on Monday.

"Strong harvest lows weighed on the market even though the crop may be reduced a little from what had been expected," a trader said.

Rice also was hit by spillover pressure from long liquidation in other markets, especially the wheat market.

Rice closed 30 cents per cwt lower in all months, with September down 30 at $7.91 per cwt.-Reuter
