of essentials
in Multan
RECORDER REPORT
MULTAN: Prices of Essential daily use items have gone up from one to 50 percent during last 38 days in Multan and its adjoining markets. Table of prices of Lahore shows that it is cheaper than Multan.
Hoarders and profiteers had stored huge quantity of eatables to fleece the consumers, taking advantaged of administration's engagement in flood relief operations. However, vegetables and fruits are available at 40 to 50 percent less rates in the market than the vendors and shopkeepers. Mango prices are also abnormally high, like in Lahore this season, because the mango-hopper badly hit the orchards and devastated the at least 80 percent of the crop. Similar was case of poultry farms where an unidentified disease killed 40 to 65 percent of the birds.
