Croats report
Bosnian Serb
air raid
ZAGREB: Bosnian Serb planes bombed a petrochemical plant in central Croatia on Sunday night, the Croatian Defence Ministry said on Monday.
"Last night at 1930 (1730 gmt), two Serb warplanes took off from near Banja Luka (in Serb-held northern Bosnia) and bombed the petrochemical plant near Kutina," defence ministry spokesman General Ivan Tolj told a news conference.
He said Karlovac, south of the capital Zagreb, came under long-range Serb rocket fire on Sunday night and five people were wounded.
A second air raid on a residential district of the Nova Gradiska region occurred on Monday morning, Croatian media reported. General alert sirens went off in towns along Croatia's Sava River border with Serb-held northern Bosnia.
The reported air raids could be an act of reprisal for Croatia's defeat of rebel Croatian Serb allies of the Bosnian Serbs in an offensive over U.N. ceasefire lines.-Reuter
