Cotton narrowly mixed

NEW YORK: New York cotton futures were narrowly mixed at midday in quiet, rangebound trade, market sources said.

"It's pretty dead," one trader said. He said the market headed up at the opening, but local selling came in and stemmed upward momentum. "I think we'll stay around 72.00 (cents a lb for the December contract) for the next couple of days," he said.

At 1141 EDT, most-active December was up 0.01 cents a lb at 72.28 cents, with trades posted from 72.45 to 71.87. Spot October was 0.18 weaker at 74.19. The back months were flat to 0.50 lower.-Reuter
