Another dacoity
committed
in Lahore
metropolis
SAQLAIN IMAM
LAHORE: Karachi syndrome appears to have struck the provincial metropolis of the Punjab as yet another daredevil dacoity at the busiest departmental store on the Mall left a child and her mother injured, and several others in a great panic. On Sunday a film actress, Nadira, was shot dead in Gulberg by two motorcyclists during an attempted dacoity.
Two kalashnikov totting men in shilwar kamiz raided one of the oldest departmental store of the area, H. Karim Bakhsh and sons on Monday evening when the Mall and Temple Road were choked with traffic.
The dacoits appeared to have been aided by some other persons who helped them in making their escape good. Before running away, the dacoits fired several shots indiscriminately in the air to disperse the traffic and the people at the Regal Crossing.
The one of the busiest crossing that normally takes several minutes if the traffic police would clear it from traffic choking, turned into a deserted area as soon as the bandits opened fire.
They took more than five minutes in front of a traffick police kisok to get any motorcycle to run away. All passers-by and the traffick police kept watching the whole seen of the dacoity, but none of them dare come closer to the dacoits.
One of the dacoits grabbed a motorcyclist when he failed to get a car. The dacoit and his accomplice took three or four minutes before they could start the motorcycle and run away. The exact money looted by them could not be ascertained as the storekeepers were still busy in counting the losses.
One woman alongwith her small child were shifted to a local hospital after the incident. They were stated to be out of danger. They were injured in the store when a dacoit brutally pulled away the woman from collar as she accidentally came in his way.
