Akbari Mandi: Sugar records Rs 35 rise

LAHORE: Commodity prices in Akbari Mandi started rising after a short span of dull trading due to recent downpours in the provincial metropolis, and most of the activity was observed in sugar trading.

A sharp rise of Rs 35 per bag of sugar was observed at the opening of trading on Monday. Main activity was seen the tenders at Pattoki Sugar Mills for August, which were finalized at Rs 1,602 (per 100 kg bag). Kamalia Sugar Mills deal was finalized at Rs 1,597 for August, too. Deal for September 10 was agreed at Rs 1,630 and for September 30 at Rs 1,670. Traders said this trend might continue for some time.

Local traders concentrated mainly on sugar and there was little activity elswhere. As such oil lost Rs five while rice maintained its previous position.
