The rupee on Monday took a reverse turn from its previous rising trend and lost five paisa against the US dollar at the foreign currency exchange counter.

It opened three paisa less than overnight closing in terms of US dollar at Rs 32.38 and lost two more paisa towards day's closing, according to dealers at the open market.

The rupee also lost value in terms of other currencies like pound sterling, German mark, Saudi riyal and UAE dirham.

Like sentiments were observed at the kerb market of the city where also the rupee was in a depressed position against other currencies.
