at schools' closure
in Korangi
KARACHI: President Pakistan Muslim League Women's Wing, Karachi Division Mrs Mumtaz Qureshi and other women leaders have appealed to the government to have schools in Korangi occupied by law enforcing agencies vacated so that educational activities could resume there.
They said this while talking to people of Nasir Colony and adjacent areas of Korangi which they visited on the directive of Mian Nawaz Sharif and Syed Ghous Ali Shah. They also met ladies whose family members were killed in recent distrubances. They distributed rations to destitutes and provided financial assistance to needy families.
Later in a joint statement they said that educational activities in the city have resumed, but in Korangi it remain suspended because of occupation by law-enforcing agencies of Baldia Boys and Girls Schools Area 8, Government Urdu Boys Primary School No 2, Korangi 1 1/2, and boys school in Nasir Colony Sector 32-D. They said thousands of boys and girls in the area are deprived of education.
Mrs Mumtaz Qureshi was accompanied by General Secretary Ms Tooba Durrani, Joint Secretary Naheed Fatima, Ms Naila Ashraf and president Gulzar Welfare Trust Nasir Colony, local PML leaders Alia Begum, Bano Begum and Mrs Taufiq Khan who apprised the PML leaders of the problems of the local people.-PPI
