KCCI to take up
law and order, civic
amenities issues
with authorities
KARACHI: Ahmed A. Sattar, President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Karachi (KCCI), in a press statement on Sunday urged the provincial government and civic agencies to take immediate corrective measures to arrest the deteriorating law and order situation and worsening civic amenities.
This, he said, in a meeting of the delegation of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, which led by its Chairman, S. M. Yahya, called on him today.
The president of KCCI assured the delegation that he would personally take up the problems of the Korangi Industrial Area, which is a constituent member of the Chamber, with the authorities concerned.
Ahmed A. Sattar, stated that he would see that the supply of electricity to the area is ensured uninterrupted and the loadshedding is done away with.
He said that the issues relating to sewerage system and the inadequate supply of water would also be taken with the higher authorities.
The Chamber Chief stated that he was aware of the growing number of cases of thefts and dacoities and car-lifting especially in the industrial areas and has been persistently drawing the attention of the authorities concerned to this menacing problem.
Earlier, S. M. Yahya, Chairman, Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, apprised the president of the Chamber of many-sided problems that were being confronted by the industrialists of the area.
He said that because of the break-down of electricity, loadshedding and variation in voltage, it had indeed been very difficult to run the industries smoothly.
He said that the sewerage system and roads were very poor and because of no clear-cut jurisdiction of civic agencies, and proper attention was not being paid to the area.
