Farmers to be
provided diesel
tubewells under
subsidy
LAHORE: Punjab Agriculture Department is to provide cultivators with diesel tubewells under a subsidy scheme.
According to a Department announcement on Sunday, the scheme is open to all farmers owning a minimum of 25 acres of flood, barani and canal irrigated lands. They can apply for tubewels of one cusec size.
Those wishing to apply for 3/4 cusec size of tubewell must have 30 acres of land, while the limit for 1/2 cusec size of tubewell is 15 acres.
For the barani areas, the subsidy rate is Rs 20,000, flood affected areas Rs 18,000 and canal irrigated Rs 16,000.
Farmers working on lease lands for the last 10 years are also eligible for this schemes. Applications will be accepted upto September 10 and the forms are available from the offices of Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Agriculture Engineers.-APP
