EPB striving
to redress
traders' problems
SIALKOT: All out efforts are being made for the redressal of problems being faced by the business community of Sialkot, said the Director of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Sialkot, Sarfraz Ahmed while talking to newsmmen here on Saturday.
He said as many as 60,000 cases pertaining to refund claims amounting to Rs 40 crore had been settled during past two years.He siad adequate steps have already been taken for the settlement of pending cases at earliest possible. He disclosed that land for the establishement of leather centre has been purchased at a cost of Rs 3.50 crore.
He said the step is being taken to provide most modern facilities to the business community belonging to leather particularly gloves.
Special steps are being taken for the upgrading of Metal Industrial Development Centre (MIDC) aimed at bringing it to international level. Besides, the government has decided to set up a testing laboratory for surgical items. The proposed laboratory will be equipped with modern equipments for ensuring up-to-date testing facilities to business community engaged in surgical industry at local level, he added.
The EPB director further said many a stop had already been adopted for bringing down the problems and difficult of the business community of the area.
He disclosed ways and means are being find out for handing over the sports centre to the sports goods association adding that the EPB and Punjab Small Industries Corporation will jointly prepare a final programme for handing over the sports centre.
