Historian laid

to rest

ISLAMABAD: Eminent educationist, historian and research scholar, Prof. Dr Muhammad Yussouf Abbasi was laid to rest in Islamabad graveyard on Wednesday.

Prof Col. Yussouf Abbasi was born in Gujranwala in 1921. After doing his PhD from Punjab University, he was posted there as the teacher of History. He remained Head of the History Department from 1949 to 1962 in Pakistan Military Academy Kakul, and from 1962 to 1968 he served as a teacher of History in Nigeria and London University. On return, he was made the Chairman of the Pakistan Studies Department in Islamic University Bahawalpur, and Department of History in the Quaid-i-Azam University. He was serving as a Post Doctoral Fellow at the National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research, Islamabad.-APP
