CHICAGO: Choppy trading continued as CBOT rice futures closed quietly lower, traders said on Tuesday.

"We've been waiting for (the U.S.) harvest for a few weeks and we still don't know what the results will be," a trader said.

Industry sources Tuesday indicated the U.S. rice crop this year may be trimmed from earlier estimates because of heat stress to the crop.

CBOT rice futures closed one to six cents per cwt lower, with September down six at $8.00 per cwt. -Reuter
