calls on Leghari

ISLAMABAD: President Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari has said that the Asian Development Bank has been playing a very active and important role in the socio-economic development of Pakistan.

He was talking to Bong Suh-Lee, Vice President of the Asian Development Bank, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr here on Wednesday.

The President hoped that the Asian Developmewnt Bank would continue to assists Pakistan for its sustainable economic development and increased economic growth rate.

The President observed that Pakistan had an advantageous geo-physical position and could act as a conduit for economic cooperation and development in the region.

He said that Pakistan supported mega development projects like the oil and gas pipelines which could involve and benefit several countries in the region.

Bong Suh-Lee assured Leghari that the Asian Development Bank shall continue to assist Pakistan in the development of its physical infrastructure in the socio-economic sector like its Social Action Programme. He also said that the bank would like to play its due role in any regional development projects as and when undertaken by Pakistan.-APP
