Grain, oilseeds exports

CHICAGO: Grain and oilseed exports reported by USDA and private export sources.

CORN/SORGHUM SALE: CCC said it bought 28,000 tonnes U.S. sorghum and 16,000 tonnes corn from Continental Grain for donation to five southern Africa nations.

The sorghum, priced at $125.59 per tonne, is for Zambia, Malawi and Lesotho, to be shipped August 15 to September 10. The corn, at $127.37 a tonne, is for Swaziland and Mozambique and is also slated for shipment August 15 to September 10.

PALM OLEIN SALE: Indonesia's state commodities regulator said it imported 19,000 tonnes of palm olein from Malaysia to contain rising domestic prices.

WHEAT TENDERS: Pakistan passed on commercial offers for 200,000 tonnes white wheat for August 15-September 5 shipment, exporters said. Pakistan had previously bid for EEP wheat but was rejected. There was no inidication when a retender would be issued.

- Bangladesh also reportedly passed on offers for 200,000 tonnes optional origin wheat for August shipment. Again, there was no word on when Bangladesh would retender.

WHEAT FLOUR TENDER: Syria was expected to tender August 1 to buy 80,000 tonnes of wheat flour at seller's option and contract price. Shipment is 40,000 tonnes each in September and October. Results were not immediately available.

WHEAT/BARLEY TENDER: Morocco tenders August 5 for 270,000 tonnes of wheat and 80,000 tonnes barley for August delivery.

CORN/SORGHUM TENDER: Spain is tendering for 700,000 tonnes of U.S. corn and 120,000 tonnes of sorghum at a reduced duty, an EU member state official said. Offers are due August 24 and imports must be completed by December 14.

CORN/SOYABEAN TENDER: State-run Taiwan Sugar Corp passed on a tender for 20,000 tonnes of corn and 10,000 soyabeans on Wednesday, Taipei traders said. Shipment was slated for August 25 to September 10 from the U.S. Gulf or September 10 to 25 from the PNW. No retender date has been set.

VEGOILS TENDER: Egypt was to tender August 2 for up to 40,000 tonnes of edible vegoils, with 20,000 tonnes for first-half October delivery and 20,000 tonnes for first-half November, the state Company for Food Industries said. Eligible oils are raw sunflower oil, semi-refined cottonseed oil, U.S. cottonseed oil (grade 162) or degummed soyoil, it said.

MARKET TALK: Egypt is likely to buy 600,000 tonnes of U.S. SRW wheat early next week for October/November/December delivery, an Egyptian embassy spokesman said. He also said a private Egyptian company was reportedly seeking 200,000 tonnes of wheat.

- Farmer Commodities Corp has pegged 1995 U.S. corn production at 7.934 billion bushels and soybean production at 2.160 billion, FCC grain analyst Doug Jackson said. In July USDA forecast a 7.785 billion bushel corn crop and 2.240 billion bushels of soybeans.

Turkey abolished a customs duty of $20 per tonne on imported wheat, with immediate effect, to let private companies buy cheaper wheat from abroad, the Official Gazette said.

- German farm union DBV said the winter barley and rapeseed harvests have been completed, showing good quality and slightly better yields than last year. -Reuter
