28 killed
in incidents
of violence
in Karachi
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: At least 28 people, including an SDM and his guard, and an advocate, were killed in different incidents of violence in the city on Thursday.
Police and Edhi sources said that 12 bullet riddled bodies were recovered from a coach parked near Allahwala College in Sector 13-A, Orangi Town.
Most of the bodies bore torture marks and their hands were tied. Police sources said that the deceased were kidnapped from different areas, including some sectors of Orangi Town. Majority of them belonged to PPP.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Yaseen, Mohammad Ibrahim, Karim Baksh, Mohammad Siddiq, Mohammad Akram, Mohammad Umer, Mushtaq Ahmed, Gulab Khan, Mohammad Khan (Advocate) and Qasim. Three of them remained unidentified.
Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) Arambagh, Nawaz Khushk and his guard, Ghulam Shabbir were ambushed and killed by armed men at railway crossing in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Both of them died on the spot. The bodies were removed to JPMC.
In another incident, four members of a family were gunned down by armed men in a house in Orangi Town. The deceased were identified as Abdur Rehman; his daughters Shaheen 15, Fozia 10, son Liaquat and the other son Nazakat was injured in the firing. At Civil Hospital doctors described his condition as critical.
In another firing incident Ayub Mughal, a Jail Warden, was shot and killed in Korangi. His body was removed to JPMC.
Bashir was killed in a firing incident in New Karachi, his body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Tamanna Shah Durrani, 55, was killed in targeted firing in Qasba Colony. His body was shifted to Civil Hospital.
Three unidentified men were killed in different incidents at T&T Colony, Orangi Town and Saeedabad.
Ayub Baig, a police constable, was killed in targeted firing in Zaman Town. His body was removed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Wasim was killed in a firing incident in Pirabad. Khan Mohammad was killed in sniper firing in Buffer Zone. Tanveer Shah was killed in firing in Orangi Town.
Edhi and Police sources said that heavy firing was going on in Liaquatabad, and Orangi Town at the time of filing the story.
