Crisis peak seen

over in Russian forex,

rouble flat

MOSCOW: Russian foreign exchange dealers said the peak of the credit crunch which paralysed markets last week was over and they expected normal trading to resume on the rouble-dollar market in the coming few days.

They said the rouble was likely to be flat or slightly higher on the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange. They expected MICEX turnover to rise, as payments there are guaranteed.

"Now everything is calm and the interbank foreign exchange market will be back on the track soon, banks will settle mutual problems," said Levan Zolotaryov of Vserossiisky Birzhevoi Bank.-Reuter
