Board holds

pool estimates steady

MELBOURNE: The Australian Wheat Board held its 1995/96 crop pool return estimates at A$215 a tonne, basis Australian Standard White (ASW), after its two-weekly review, AWB general manager marketing Ron Storey said.

Lack of real buying pressure combined with better than expected U.S. and Canadian spring wheat harvests meant there had been little activity in the market, he said in a statement.

"The current pool estimate still represents the highest return for many years and there seems to be no downward pressures in the horizon at this stage," he said.-Reuter
