KARACHI: Brig Rashid Malik, Force Commander, Airport Security Force (ASF) said here that the Air Guards had set an examplary preecedent by rescuing MNA Ilyas Jat from the clutches of the two unknown assailants on Aug 24 when the PIA Fokker was in the air on Islamabad-Faisalabad route.

Addressing newsmen at the ASF Headquarters on Monday, he criticised reports appearing in a section of the national press, and said the Air Guards acted in the best national intereest.

They performed a gallant act and must be rewarded and acknowledged accordingly, Brig. Rashid Malik added.

Had such an act been performed by foreign Air Guards, it would have hit the headlines of the foreign press, he added.

Instead of appreciating their heroic performance, it was regrettable that a section of the press had criticised their act which he termed as "injustice and unfair".

He said they should be given full marks for their performance.-APP
