LCCI urged for
special measures
to enhance Pak
exports to Oman
LAHORE: Special measures would be taken to promote Pakistan's exports in Oman.
According to LCCI press release, this was stated by Khalid Mahmood, Pakistan Ambassador-designate to Oman, at a meeting with Tariq Saigol, President, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Sunday at the Chamber premises.
He said that Omanese market has vast room for various Pakistani products like fresh fruits, vegetables, pharmaceutical, rice, sports goods and readymade garments etc.
He underlined that an aggressive marketing strategy was required to enhance Pakistan's exports to Oman.
He said that he would organize a special trade fair of Pakistani products in Oman to introduce Pakistan's quality products to Omanese consumers.
Khalid Mehmood urged upon the LCCI to organize trade delegations to visit Oman.
Earlier, LCCI chief welcomed the Ambassador-designate and apprised him about the current situation of bilateral trade between Oman and Pakistan.
He said that during 1993-94 Pakistan exported goods worth Rs 593 million whereas its imports to from Oman were of Rs. 512 million. But, during 1994-95 the situation had changed with the reduction of Pakistan's exports Oman from Rs 593 million to Rs 553 million, he added and Pakistan's imports from Oman had increased to Rs 1,862 million turning the balance of trade in favour of Oman.
Saigol said that the local businessmen could make outstanding achievements by evolving an aggressive marketing strategy for their exports to Oman
He said that the LCCI would extend its 'fullest co-operation' to the government for promoting exports of Oman.-APP
