Gypsum fertilizer
for farmers
on discount rates
LAHORE: The Punjab Government has decided to supply gypsum fertilizer to farmers on concessional rates with a view to bring maximum water-logging salinity-affected areas under cultivation and rupees 19 crores are being spent on this scheme.
This was stated by the Punjab Agriculture Minister, Tariq Bashir Cheema while talking to a delegation of farmers, on Sunday.
The minister said that water-logging was the major problem of the Punjab and about 14 to 16 percent land was affected due to it. He said with the use of gypsum, water-logging could be controlled. He told that water and soil laboratories had already been set up at district level to ensure the tests of soil and water at nominal charges.
The minister called upon the farmers to take full advantage of this scheme and bring maximum land under cultivation.
