Clarification

KARACHI: Textile Commissioner Organization (TCO) has clarified a news item "Task Force proposes measures to salvage textile industry", published in Business Recorder on August 25, 1995. It said that according to its record there are only 120 textile units lying closed in the country, as against 155 closed units claimed by the Aptma during the second meeting held on Thursday last.

The TCO further said that it was agreed in the meeting that the list of remaining 35 units will be given to Central Excise Department for further verification, when the list is received both sides will meet again.

The TCO further clarified that the Task Force is preparing proposals and suggesting measures for the revival of closed units. The news item which attributes as Task Force view in fact are recommendations of the Aptma.
