APNS course
on marketing
begins
KARACHI: The first-ever course by All Pakistan Newspapers Society, 'Update in sales and marketing' took off successfully, the first effort by APNS attracted many participants sales and marketing personnels from print media and other fields.
The five-day course was inaugurated on Sunday by Anis H. Younus, Vice-President, Marketing Association of Pakistan. Honorary General Secretary APNS, Mir Javed-ur-Rahman was the host.
Anis Younus appreciated the beginning of series of training courses by APNS. He beleived it would promote the most wanted culture of training in the country.
He said training was not something particularly required for juniors in the field but also a great help for seniors to refresh and update their knowledge.
Stressing the importence to work hard for any success, he rephrased it as 'to work smart'. He said courses, seminars and workshops help to impart update technology in the field and keep the executives smart.
Mir Javed-ur-Rahman, in his welcome address hoped the course would encourage APNS to arrange other such courses. He was pleased with the response of people towards requiring knowledge and improve their skills.
He stressed the need for scientific professional training to combat the challenges faced by the media in the last decade of the 20th century. He was of the opinion that unless sales and marketing personnel of print media were equipped with the modern techniques they cannot successfully compete with their rivals in the profession.
Managing partner of One to One Communications, Shahzad Nawaz was lecturar for the first day, his topic was "Strength of print media".
He introduced the listeners with changing trends in the market and stressed newspapers' marketing persons to introduce their readers as consumers to the advertisers. He was sure this technique would help in selling the space. He asked participants to remembers basic techniques.
Course director, Najamul Hasan said the over whelming response indicates emerging healthy trend of society towards learning. He introduced the course and its objectives to the participants. The second lecture of the course shall be delivered tomorrow at 2.30 pm at PACC.-PPI
