Ajmal Dehlavi's
acceptance of
talks reveals his
patriotism: CM
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Abdullah Shah has said that preparedness of MQM Altaf Group's negotiator Ajmal Dehlavi for talks and to fixing of day and time for the same was clear testimony of his spirit of patriotism and keeping national interests above party interests.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, the Chief Minister said it had been in the Government knowledge that Dehlavi faced great pressure from certain violent circles from inside his group who were forcing for giving up talks for ever and they made telephones and faxes also to London in this regard.
But, he said, Ajmal Dehlavi did not yield to any such pressure and kept the national interest before him.
Syed Abdullah Shah said Dehlavi is a seasoned and experienced journalist and his bold writings against Martial Law were still fresh in the minds of PPP workers. He said that his role during the movement for restoration of democracy was an example to be emulated.
The Chief Minister said that sobre circles of Pakistan are hopeful about meaningful outcome of talks to be held under the leadership of Ajmal Dehlavi.
He observed that Ajmal Dehlavi deeply realises the impact of serious situation of Karachi on the country and as such it will be his effort to strive for restoration of normalcy in the city as early as possible.-APP
