Speaking about economic development in the province, the Chief Minister emphasised upon the potential and resources available here and said these only required their full utilization.

He said with the opening of new economic avenues in Central Asian States, Pakistan foresaw more marine-based economic activity. For this purpose not only the existing facilities were being improved at Karachi Port but Keti Bunder in district Thatta was also being developed expeditiously to cater to Pakistan's future economic requirements.

Syed Abdullah Shah said tremendous foreign investment was expected in coal-fired energy projects as well as tourism sector through coastal development projects for which infrastructure was being developed.

The present government, the Chief Minister said, was fully aware of the problems of Karachi metropolis, especially those relating to drainage, electricity and drinking water.

He said he had directed for preparation of a Master Plan to build small dams at Nai Gaj and increased storage capacity at Manchar Lake in district Dadu. This water then could be re-routed to Karachi for drinking purposes.

The delegation leader praised the efforts being made by Sindh government's for amelioration of the socio-economic lot of the people.

He presented a souvenir to the Chief Minister as a momento of their visit. The Chief Minister also presented him the crest of Chief Minister House.

The meeting was attended, among others, by Chief Secretary Sindh, Home Secretary, I.G. Police and senior officials of Planning and Development.-APP
