LCCI - Wapda
body to review
tariff hike
LAHORE: A joint committee comprising representatives of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) and Wapda has been formed to review impact of the current increase of electricity tariff on the industrial sector.
It was decided in a meeting of an LCCI delegation led by its SVP Sh. Wahiduddin with S.A.K. Niazi, Member (Power) Wapda. The LCCI delegation included Anwaar A. Sheikh, Pervaiz Siddiqui and Rehmatullah Javed, Convener LCCI's Infrastructure Committee.
Sh. Wahiduddin apprised the Member (Power) Wapda about severe concern prevailing in the buisiness community over persistence increse in Wapda tariff. He was of the view that cost of the developmental projects of Wapda should not be transferred on consumers. The funds for development projects should be made available to Wapda from federal government budget.
S.A.K. Niazi, Member (Power) Wapda, after hearing the concerns of business community, announced to set up a committee for proper redressal of the complaint.
On recommendation of the LCCI SVP Rehmatullah Javed has been nominated as Chairman of the proposed committee whereas Anwar A. Sheikh and Pervaiz Siddique, Executive Committee Members of the LCCI has been included in this committee as members. From Wapda side Mohammad Yousaf, Chairman Area Electricity Board has been inducted in this committee.
