FEPC gets Rs 20m

for improvement

of drainage system

FAISALABAD: Environmental Protection Commission Faisalabad (FEPC) has arranged Rs.20 million from over seas development agency for the purchase of necessary machinery for the improvement of city drainage system. This was disclosed by the Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Badar Ud Din Chaudhry who is also Chairman of City Social Action Board Faisalabad while talking to newsmen here on Saturday.

He said that this machinery will be played due role for the improvement of sewerage system in the western part of the city while another Rs.100 million has also been approved for this project. A drainage scheme was also under completion to drain out sewerage water from Summundri Road while yet another scheme was in planning stage. These schemes would not only improve the over all sewerage system in the city but also save the city roads from any further threat of wear and tear, he added.

Replying to a question, he said that the board has also directed the owners of service stations situated along city roads to arrange an efficient drainage system for the disposal of their water discharge. The service station who are spilling out their water discharge on roads will be closed down, he warned. Provincial Minister said that this Govt has refused to issue any NOC for the establishment of new petrol pumps on green belts.

He also briefed the members of the city social action board about the development activities of the FMC. He further said that board has decided to start a new college of Home Economics in the existing building of a school near Regency Plaza.
