part in Amman

JERUSALEM: For the first time, Israel is to participate in an international agricultural fair held in the Jordanian capital of Amman on October 9-12, the Israel Export Institute said on Friday.

The fair, named as the "Arab Agriculture '95," will deal with all aspects of agriculture, including agricultural food products, processing and packaging.

Daniel Bloch, Director of International Media for the institute, said that he expects an Israeli delegation of 25 to 50 members to take part in the event.

According to him, almost all the countries in the Middle East will send delegations to the fair.

The Israel Export Institute said that Israel hopes to sign the free-trade agreement with Jordan by October so that Israeli exporters will be able to negotiate business deals with their Jordanian counterparts.

It also hopes that the Jordanian businessmen will play a major role in building a link between Israel, Jordan and the Arab world, specially the Gulf states.

Israel and Jordan signed a peace treaty on October 26, 1994, and established diplomatic ties in November, last year.-Xinhua
