HK gold end
slightly easier
HONG KONG: Gold closed slightly easier but off the day's low in quiet trading ahead of the long weekend holidays, dealers said.
Bullion touched the day's low of US$382.50/383.00 an ounce, before closing at US$382.60/383.10, down slightly from New York's US$383.00/50 close and the local opening of US$383.10/60.
"Sentiment is mixed with investors adopting a wait and see approach to which direction the market is heading," said a dealer at a major bank. "I think gold will stay range-bound in the short-term, with downside support at US$382 and upside resistance at US$386-388 levels."
Local gold fell HK$5 to close at HK$3,530 a tael.
The Hong Kong gold markets will be closed on Saturday and Monday. Trading resumes on Tuesday. London is also closed on Monday due to a market holiday.-Reuter
