H'bad small
traders to stay
away from strike
RECORDER REPORT
HYDERABAD: The office-bearers of Hyderabad Organization of Small Traders have disassociated themselves from the strike on August 25 and 26 at a call given by various trade bodies of Pakistan.
In a joint statement issued here on Friday evening, Haji Rafiq Memon, Zakir Bin Zahid, Haji Yaqoob, Mohammad Yahya, Abdul Aziz Sanmbhri and others said that 20 objections had been filed against the new Income Tax form under the Self-Assessment Scheme out of which 17 demands had already been accepted and negotiations were being held on the remaining three demands.
Under these circumstances, they argued, there was no justification to go on strike.
Earlier, the secretary general of the organization Zakir Bin Zahid along with Mohammad Umar Sailya called on Sindh Chief Minister Syed Abdullah Shah at the Chief Minister House, and apprised him of the problems of the small traders.
Zahid told Business Recorder that the chief minister had assured him that he would soon visit Hyderabad and redress the grievances of the traders on priority basis.
Zahid further said the chief minister also assured that he will also make necessary recommendations to the Federal Government in respect of new Income Tax Form and will particularly emphasise that the column of children fees should be excluded from the form. The chief minister announced the appointment of a coordination cmomittee comprising small traders to identify the problems and suggest ways and means to resolve them.
