RECORDER REPORT

MULTAN: Mumtazabad police, on the report of City Magistrate Qazi Ashfaq Ahmed, have registered a case against production manager, plant manager, unit manager and a number of employees of Pak-Arab Fertilizer Factory, Multan, on the charge of supplying under-weight bags of fertilizers, and seized the underweight fertilizer bags.

They were booked under Sections 420, 406, 109 and 188.

According to official sources, City Magistrate Qazi Ashfaq Ahmad conducted a surprise raid on the shops of fertilizer dealers and checked the bags and quality of fertilizerrs at ten shops.

During inspection, all bags were found underweight. The dealers contended that they did not steal the fertilizers from these bags. In stead they said the factory had supplied underweight bags.

During surprise check the raiding party checked a trailer No. SL 7454, loaded with 408 bags of fertilizer.

It was found that the weight of fertilizer in only seven bags was correct and other 401 bags were underweight.

The magistrate asked the Mumtazabad police to register a case against production manager, plant manager, unit manager and others.

However, the management of Pak-Arab Fertilizer Factory denied the charges and said that it was not aware of any irregularity.
