LHC orders FIA to de-seal

sugar mill godowns

RIZWAN-UR-REHMAN

LAHORE: A single bench of the Lahore High Court on Thursday stayed the FIA action and has directed to de-seal the godowns of a sugar mill for the open supply of sugar.

The directions were issued by the court in a writ petition filed by Haseeb Waqas Sugar Mills Ltd.

It was submitted in the petition that the FIA raided the stores of the mill and held up the bulk of sugar which it had sold to the dealers earlier.

It was also submitted that the FIA raided their warehouses and took over the possession of all the sugar bags in the stores.

Terming it without jurisdiction of the FIA it was played that the petitioner may be allowed to pass the sugar to local market.

CASE OF ABDUCTED GIRL

The Lahore High Court has directed the DIG Gujranwala, SSP Narowal and the SHO Kot Nainan police station to produce before the court one Ruqqayya daughter of a local labourer, by September 3.

The directions were issued by the court in a writ petition moved by one Nazir Ahmed of Shakargarh submitting that his daughter was abducted by the supporters of a local MNA.

He alleged that a local MNA was fully backing the persons involved in the abduction of his daughter.

He submitted that though the local police had registered a case of abduction about three month back but it failed to do something in spite of indication of the culprits.

Counsel M.D. Tahir prayed before the court for early recovery of the abductee.

LHC STAMP FEE

Lawyer M.D. Tahir has moved a petition in the LHC in which has challenged the payment of Rs 100 stamp fee on every writ petition.

Through the petition he submitted that this tax had been imposed by the LHC about 30 to 35 years back because a mosque was being constructed inside the premises of the LHC.

He submitted that this mosque had since been completed but the LHC was still receiving this 'duty'.

He prayed the court to withdraw this duty.
