KARACHI: Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) is establishing a centralized "power breakdown, billing and information centre" at Karachi Awami Markaz which is being established at main Sharea Faisal on the directive of Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
Sindh Governor, Kamaluddin Azfar, who visited the Markaz on Thursday was informed about the facilities the KESC has planned to provide at its centre at the Markaz by Managing Director Syed Tanzim Hussain Naqvi.
The Secretary Water and Power, Salman Farooqi, Deputy Managing Director KESC, Shaikh Mohammad Javed, Chief Engineers Aslam Rasheed Abbasi and Khalid Jamil and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
Tanzim Naqvi informed the Governor that KESC has established a most modern "power stability on line Awami operation centre" at the Markaz where the people could register their complaints regarding power breakdowns and problems relating to electricity bills. He said this will be an additional facility here which they already have at their KESC's area offices.
He said the people of PECHS and adjacent societies can also have duplicate bills in case the same were not received by them at their homes.
Naqvi on the occasion briefed the Governor Sindh about KESC's rehabilitation programme for improvement of its transmission and distribution system. He said KESC is constructing four new grid stations at Surjani, Lyari, Orangi and SITE. On their completion the power supply position in these areas will improve.
Governor expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements being made by KESC for providing better facilities to its consumers at the Awami Markaz.
On the occasion the governor was shown the system for issuance of duplicate bill and also issued a duplicate electricity bill to an Amir Khusro Road resident.
