Ex-minister

laid to rest

JHANG: A former Religious and Minority Affairs Minister, Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmed Khan Ansari (80) who died here on Wednesday was buried on Thursday morning.

Relatives, friends, parliamentarians and elite of the town attended his Namaz-e-Jinaza.

Late Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmed Khan was cousin of a former bureau chief of the daily Mushriq, Lahore, Farooq Ahmed Usmani.

He left behind a widow, two sons and two daughters to mourn his death.

Late Nawabzada Ansari was the president of Pakistan Muslim League in Panipat (combined Punjab) and took active part in Anti-Khizer Movement in the province in 1946.

In 1977 he was inducted as federal minister for religious affairs and through his efforts the Mahafil-i-Sabina were introduced in the country during the holy month of Ramazan.-PPI
