KARACHI: Sindh Governor, Kamal Azfar, on Thursday visited the Karachi Awami Markaz at main Sharea Faisal which is being opened to provide utility and other services to people under one-roof.

At the markaz the governor was received by Federal Secretary Water and Power, Salman Farooqi, who briefed him about the progress made so far in connection with its establishment.

Salman Farooqi informed the governor that the Markaz will provide basic utility services like telephone, electricity, gas, water etc under one-roof basides having a big "shopping mall" where people could buy items of daily use.

He said PTC, KESC, SSGC, KWSB, PIA, Pakistan Railways and other basic utility organizations were opening their offices at the Awami Markaz which would provide the people all sort of services.

Salman Farooqi said people could also get duplicate bills of gas, telephone, electricity, water from this Markaz in case they do not receive the same at their homes. People will also have the facility of depositing and also getting their bills corrected from here.

The Markaz, he further explained, will also have restaurants, fast food and cold drink shops and ice-cream parlours, PCOs, Telegraph office, grocery and medical stores and barber shops. Besides play land facility for children.

Secretary Water and Power said this will be the country's biggest Awami Markaz.

He informed that government has already planned establishment of more such type of Markaz at the District level all over the country.-APP
