LONDON: Altaf Hussain, founder leader of MQM last night severely condemned the assassination attempt on the life of Ajmal Dehlavi, Editor of daily "Amn", Karachi, who is also chief negotiator of the MQM negotiating team with the government, and said that the government have gradually expanded the area of state terrorism in violation of all international norms and principles."

In a statement faxed to the newspapers in Karachi, Altaf Hussain "accused the government for patronizing all types of terrorism against the MQM and its leaders and workers in gross violation of the law of the land and moral and ethical principles", The government has turned all its cannons to destroy the MQM and all those persons associated with his organisation.

He said that Ajmal Dehlavi is an honest journalist of respectable position and always maintained the highest standard of its professional duties even during late General Ziaul Haq's Martial Law regime. In those days of dictatorship no act of terrorism was committed against him although he wrote many and published news against that regime.

He, however, regretted that democratic regime of the PPP has forgotten Ajmal Dehlavi's selfless services to the party when it was being victimized by the martial law regime.

He said that the PPP now "under planned conspiracies is trying to systematically eliminate the members of the MQM negotiating team, earlier Shaikh Liaquat Hussain and Kazi Khalid, advocate, MPA, both members of the MQM negotiating team were also attacked on Tuesday.

"This smacks of government's evil intentions against the Mohajir community as a whole" he added.-PPI
