Japan extends
Rs 17m for
flood relief
RECORDER REPORT
ISLAMABAD: Japan has extended to Pakistan emergency assistance for flood relief, amounting to Rs.17 million (about dollars 523,000) for the relief of the people suffering from the heavy monsoon rainfall and subsequent floods.
The relief package consists of cash assistance of US dollars 300,000 (about Rs.9.7 million) and relief goods - 100 tents, 2,000 blankets and medicines and medical materials (about 1.8 tons) valued at approximately US dollars 223,000 (about Rs.7.2 million).
A cheque for the cash amount of US dollars 300,000 was presented on Wednesday to V.A. Jafarey, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Economic Affairs, by Takao Kawakami, Ambassador of Japan.
