KARACHI: District Central Police arrested five activists of MQM in two different encounters and recovered two Kalashnikovs loaded with 49 rounds and three loaded TT pistols.

According to details a police party headed by S.I. Mohammad Naeem was on patrol duty when it was attacked by two accused at about 0745 hours at Khilafat Chowk, Nazimabad.

The police said firing was opened with an intention to kill the police personnel.

However the police also returned the fire and arrested both. They were identified as Shah Zeb and Khadim Hussain. Two TT pistols were recovered from their possession.

On interogation the two disclosed that they belong to MQM and their other associates were present behind Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for committing act of terrorism.

On this information further police reinforcements was called from Gulbahar Police Station.

On seeing the police party, the accused started firing which the police returned the succeeded in arresting accused Shoaib Jilani, Amjad Asghar and Khalid Shafifi and recovered two KK's loaded with 49 rounds and one TT pistol with 6 alive rounds.

However four accused who were later identified as Shahid Jin, Riaz, Shakir and Asif escaped amidst firing.

The accused disclosed that they were instructed by high command through Shahid Jin and Amad Jilani to kill police officials.

The accused were being further interrogated.

Later the SHO Gulbahar alongwith SHO Nazimabad and police party carried out a raid at a gambling den at Nadi Kinara, Jalalabad and recovered stake money of Rs.30,100, 20 kg charas and 50 bottles of liquor.-APP
