Kamaluddin
Azfar prefers
to be called
plain Mr
Kamal Azfar
KARACHI: The Secretary to Sindh Governor, Israr Ahmed has said that the full name of Governor Sindh on his identity card and passport is "Kamal uddin Azfar".
In a statement he said he was given this name at the time of his birth by his grandfather Khan Saheb Akbar Ali, Deputy Inspector of Schools in the United Provinces of India.
This is also the name that appears on his passport and identity card.
He was sworn in the said name as Provincial Finance Minister in 1973, as Senator in 1985 and againts as Senator in 1994. These are matters of record.
In official documents and ceremonies his full name is used so that the authenticity of the acts cannot be questioned in view of the constitutional role assigned to him.
However, since his Ravian days, the Governor has popularly been called Kamal Azfar. The Governor has no objection to being thus addressed by friends or foes alike, for a rose or a thorn called by another name is just as prickly or as sweet, indeed, he prefers to be called plain Mr. Kamal Azfar.-APP
