RECORDER REPORT
LAHORE: Opposition requisition another session of the Punjab Assembly in less an hour of the prorogation of earlier requisitioned session by Speaker Mohammad Haneef Ramay on Monday afternoon after completion of discussion on flood and law and order situation during two days.
The fresh notice for requisition, carrying signatures of 81 opposition members and seeking discussion on five points agenda including irrigation/agriculture, electricity, highways, Zakat and Ushr and price hike, was handed over to Secretary Punjab Assembly Dr. Syed Abul Hasan Najmee by a delegation of Opposition MPAs including Syed Tabish Alvari from Bahawalpur, Syed Zafar Ali Shah from Rawalpindi and S.A. Hameed from Gujranwala.
Syed Zafar Ali Shah said that it was the constitutional right of the opposition to requisition PA session for discussion on matters of public importance and it will continue to do so as and when a need arises for that.
Syed Tabish Alvari said that the Opposition had requisitioned just prorogued PA session for discussion on four points out of which only two points regarding floods and law and order situation were accommodated and those relating to power tariff increase and price hike left over which necessitated submission of fresh notice.
The Opposition had prepared the fresh notice even before the prorogation of earlier requisitioned session.
With the prorogation of 11th session of second parliamentary year, the Punjab Assembly had completed 70 days sitting on Monday to meet its constitutional obligation of meeting at least for 70 days in a parliamentary year, starting from first sitting after being reconstituted afresh.
