Farzana Sultan case
Procrastinating
chemical examiners
suspended
KARACHI: Sindh Government, has ordered immediate suspension of former Chemical Examiner of Chemico-Bacteriological Laboratory Karachi, Dr Suresh Kumar, a former Assistant Chemical Examiner of the same Laboratory Dr Hamid Ali Parihyar and former Chemical Exminer Sub-Laboratory, Rohri, Dr Imam Ali Abbasi.
They have been placed under suspesnion on charge of derelection of duty, unruly behaviour unbecoming of a civil servant, and misconduct by non-submitting chemical examiner's report before the Inquiry Tribunal probing into Farzana Sultan alleged gang rape case.
The officers have been suspended initially for a period of three months by the government and they shall be proceeded against under Sindh Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules 1973.
The government has also ordered that no independent administrative position be given to the officers for the next three years.
Through another order the Sindh government also suspended the services, initially for three months, of Dr Zahid Hussain, present chemical examiner C.B. Laboratory Karachi on the same charges.
It is learnt that the laboratory report in respect of Farzana Sultan case was later sent to Chemical Examiner Health Department, Punjab for their expert report and the same has since been received and submitted before the tribunal on August 9.-APP
