Asian dollar

deposits little

changed

SINGAPORE: Asian dollar deposits were little changed in dull trade with most traders sidelined ahead of the outcome of tonight's Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, dealers said.

"The market was quiet and featureless in the morning except for some trade at the short end of the market. Everyone is waiting on the sidelines for more clues to market direction from the outcome of the FOMC meeting," a local dealer said.

"But some people are also waiting for possible direction from this Thursday's durable goods and this Friday's existing homes figures," he said.

In short dates, Tuesday/Wednesday eased 1/16 percentage point to 5-13/16 5-11/16 percent.

Wednesday/Thursday was unchanged from Monday's 5-7/8 5-3/4 percent.

But week-fixed rose 1/16 point to 5-15/16 5-13/16 percent.

Among term rates, one-and three-month were unchanged from Monday's common 6 5-7/8 percent, respectively.

Nine-month was unchanged at 6-1/16 5-15/16 and twelve-months unchanged at 6-1/8 6 percent.-Reuter
