Loadshedding:
Site body chief
complains about
loss of output
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: Yaqub Karim, Chairman, Site Association of Industry, has complained about introduction of the loadshedding by the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation, which has affected production.
Industry, was severely hurt by persistent law and order situation in the recent past, Karim said.
The loadshedding from 7 p.m. to midnight during the second and night shift in the industrial area, now disrupts the operations.
The KESC, on the other hand, once again announced that due to the shut-down of 500 KV Guddu to Dadu transmission line circuit at Wapda's end from August 18 to 27, KESC will face a 300 MW power shortage in Wapda's supply.
The loadshedding, however, if resorted to, will be carried out during day time in all residential areas for two hours at each feeder to the tune of 50 MW from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. During evening peak hours i.e. from 7.00 p.m. to 12.00 midnight the loadshedding will be carried out to the tune of 180 MW in all industrial areas for five hours on each feeder and 120 MW in residential areas for one hour at each feeder.
The duration of loadshedding may prolong due to unforeseen reasons. It may be pointed out here that city's peak power demand at present is about 1350 MW while KESC actual generation capability is about 1075 MW.
The telephone number of KESC Gizri Complaint Centre i.e. 545371 and 541006 have now been changed and the new numbers are 5896006 and 5896007 a KESC spokesman announced here on Monday.
The KESC consumers living in Defence, Clifton, Gizri, Dehli Colony, Punjab Colony, Shirin Jinnah Colony, Qayyumabad and Aktar Colony etc areas have been advised by KESC to register their power failure complaints on new numbers.
