Indian train crash
toll hits 350
FEROZABAD: Hundreds of rescuers sifted through the twisted debris of two wrecked express trains here on Monday as the death toll in India's worst rail disaster in 14 years soared to 350.
"I won't be surprised if the death toll eventually goes up to 500," said DRM Tripathi, Assistant Commandant of the Rapid Action Force, a paramilitary unit supervising the massive relief operation.
Nearly 1,000 police, paramilitary and army troops carried out a grim search throughout the night. Two wagons, including an air-conditioned one, which had telescoped on impact had yet to be examined, however.
"Every hour we are taking out 10 to 15 bodies," a soldier said.-AFP
