'Leghari, Benazir
did not discuss
mid-term polls'
ISLAMABAD: A Government spokesman has categorically denied reports published in a section of the press alleging that during their meeting on Saturday, the President and the Prime Minister discussed matters relating to the holding of mid-term elections.
Terming the report as totally baseless, the spokesman said that it had no element of truth in it and was obviously a part of the disinformation campaign launched by certain interested parties.
The spokesman said that some newspapers had even reported that ISI Chief was also present in that meeting. This too, he said, was nothing but a figment of imagination. Although ISI Chief does meet the President and the Prime Minister off and on but he was not at all present in yesterday's meeting, the spokesman said.
The spokesman regretted that despite repeated appeals, certain newspapers continue to publish concocted malicious stories even about routine meetings.-APP
