Khaliq blames govt

for deadlock in

talks with MQM

HALA: Senator Makhdoom Khaliq-uz-Zaman, President, PPP (SBG) Sindh has held the government responsible for the deadlock in the government-MQM dialogue, and alleged that it (government) wanted to resolve the Karachi crisis through use of brute force.

Talking to newsmen, he said the government's "flawed policies have harmed the masses and benefited the already privileged class". This apathetic attitude of the government was causing further deterioration of law and order situation in Karachi, he added.

He said the MQM and government dialouge was just a 'drama' and 'Zardari Group', was not serious in negotiations.

Makhdoom pointed out that the government was committing a blunder by taking administrative measures for resolution of the Karachi imbroglio. He said: "The voice of masses can never be suppressed through force."

He further said the deadlock in MQM-government talks has created a sense of restlessness and resentment among the people. The present government was taking an extreme action by patronizing those with vested interests. He also blamed the government for indulging in horse-trading thus aggravating its problems.

When asked about the arrest of workers of his parties faction he said: "We cannot be discouraged through such tactics."-PPI
