Industry

suffers 5-hour

loadshedding

RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: The industrial areas of the city had to undergo a 5-hour long loadshedding while the residential areas suffered a 2-hour break as the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) received 180 mw less power from Wapda source on Sunday.

The loadshedding by KESC is a consequence of withdrawal of 300 mw of power by Wapda due to closure of a 500 kv power transmission line from Guddu to Dadu.

The loadshedding is scheduled from August 18 to August 27.

Meanwhile, 7 grid stations from Korangi Thermal Power Station to Queens Road were also affected due to closure of 132 kv transmission line by KESC. The power supply was however made through alternate arrangements to these areas.

The KESC has already rehabilitated 17 transmission lines and the 132 kv line which has been closed for 4 months is the last one in the rehabilitation programme.

The power transmission system after rehabilitation of Korangi to Queens Road 132 kv line will improve to a great extent, it is hoped.
